The Redondo wine is the first DOC release from Casa Relvas. It represents who they are; their history, their region, and their culture. In the blend, winemaking, and resultant style, it uses a philosophy of modernisation with historic perspective.
It’s made as a wild, co-fermentation with a small proportion of whole bunches, and then ageing in a 5000L foudre. It’s ripe and juicy, has a great mix of warming, dark plummy fruit and crunchy red berries, with a little lift of floral violets. There’s earthy, almost clay-like minerality, and just grippy fine tannin on the palate. The finish is kept fresh with good acidity, making it uncomplicated and easy-going.
Ruby coloured. Very aromatic on the nose with red fruits and herbaceous notes. Rich and complex with a very elegant acidity. More bramble fruits on the palate with a hint of spices and balsamic flavours. A beautiful, “pretty” wine that is extremely drinkable!
